About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Director of Finance and Accounting to play a pivotal role in leading our finance team. This hands-on position involves direct oversight of financial planning, budget management, and ensuring regulatory compliance. As a key member of our small finance team, comprising the Director of Finance and Accounting and an Controller, you will be actively involved in executing the work, reflecting the essence of a collaborative and tightly-knit team. This remote role offers a unique opportunity to directly report to executive leadership, allowing you to significantly impact and shape the financial strategies that drive our company's success.


Responsibilities

  • Financial Leadership and Strategy: Lead the finance team with a hands-on approach, ensuring that strategic financial goals are met. Develop and implement robust financial strategies aligned with the company's objectives.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Oversee the financial planning process, including budget creation, forecasting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Primary Contact for External Auditors, Creditors, and Regulators: Coordinate with auditors, maintain relationships with creditors and regulators, and ensure compliance.
  • Oversight of Payroll Processing: Supervise payroll processing for accuracy and compliance, staying updated on labor law changes.
  • Accounts Payable Oversight and Approval: Review and approve payable transactions, implement vendor relationship controls, and optimize payment terms.
  • Internal Controls and Procedures: Develop robust internal controls, regularly assess and update procedures, and conduct internal audits.
  • Tax Planning & Strategy: Collaborate on tax planning, ensure compliance with regulations, and optimize the company's tax position.
  • Operational Improvements for Profitability: Analyze processes for efficiency improvements and collaborate on cost-saving initiatives.
  • Integration of Operations and Accounting Tools for Reporting: Streamline financial systems for efficient reporting, collaborating with IT and operations teams.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead budgeting, collaborate with department heads, and develop forecasts based on industry trends.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the company adheres to all financial regulations and compliance requirements, mitigating risks and maintaining integrity.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Stay informed on industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes, pursuing ongoing professional development opportunities.


Requirements

  • CPA certification 
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles.
  • Experience building financial statements
  • Experience managing third-party financial & tax  relationships
  • Proven experience leading a financial process for a $50MM company
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and best practices in financial management.
  • Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience implementing and using ERP systems, such as NetSuite, Sage, or similar platforms. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills for internal and external interactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in SaaS or businesses with Recurring Revenue.
  • Experience with payroll software such as Rippling, Bamboo, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with expense management tools like Expensify, Bill.com, or similar products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
